John I. Shipp, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr Shipp has been a leader in building shareholder value with medical device companies since 1992 that includes surgical cameras, endoscopes, clip appliers, gall bladder extractors, and hernia repair devices. Dr Shipp holds a PhD in physics from the University of Tennessee, and was CEO of Sorbx, LLC where he directed its commercial plan. Holding more than 100 foreign and domestic patents and applications, Dr Shipp designed a laser rangefinder that is on exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
Michael K. Bluett, M.D., Vice President of Clinical Affairs
Dr. Bluett joined CyndRx in 2008. He was a practicing Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon and a founding member of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Associates in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Bluett graduated from Eckerd College, attended the University of Florida Medical School and received his postgraduate training at Vanderbilt University and the University of Michigan. Dr. Bluett is board certified in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery, and has authored numerous articles and has been an active member in many surgical organizations.
Denny Lawson, Chief Commercialization Officer
Mr. Lawson has served in multiple roles throughout the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. His 14+ years of experience have primarily been focused in the interventional cardiology space, working in multiple sales, training, and management positions. He joined Access Closure in 2010 as a Territory Manager, eventually holding roles as a Regional Sales Trainer and Regional Sales Manager over the South-Central US. He most recently served as the Regional Manager over the Mid-Central US for Cordis Vascular, a Cardinal Health company. Mr. Lawson holds a B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
